Here’s the VW 43inch Spectra TV Review after 2 months of use, and it was a learning curve. Just like you, I was also shocked to see a TV with a 43-inch QLED, HDR10 READY, edgeless design, 20W surround sound speakers, and so much more for a price under 15,000 Rs!
To be honest, getting a good Android phone under 20,000 is a challenge, and here’s a brand giving a full 43-inch smart QLED TV with a very small frame on the bottom.
So is it worth it? Or should you invest more in a reputed brand? Here’s everything you need to know.

VW 43inch TV Pros & Cons
PROS
- Very sturdy TV frame & legs
- Very quick and responsive UI
- Supports many apps
- 20W loud and crisp speakers
- Goes very loud
- Surround sound effect
- Very good viewing angles
CONS
- Smart TV, but not Google TV
- Some areas of UI feel low effort
- No Bluetooth
Box Contents (5/5)

You will be shocked to know what comes in the box of this budget 43inch smart TV.
In the box, you get a good quality TV stand, TV mount inside the box. Including the bolt and fasteners. A remote and a warranty card.
There’s no user manual, though most brands have a digital copy lately. Or the batteries. TV’s even double the price, either come with legs or a mount.
But here VW has done a great job. Hence, 5/5 for box contents.
VW 43inch Spectra TV Port Selections
On the right side of the TV is nothing, while the left holds 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB 2.0, and an aux-in port.
While on the bottom, you will have the AV controls for pairing older home theatres. Or even soundbar using the red, yellow, and white cables or the aux cable as you like.
With the HDMI ports, you can connect your gaming console, a laptop, or a set-top box for cable or JioBox.
Not just that, there’s an RJ45 jack for wired internet. Which could help with better bandwidth than WIFI. Since it’s a 1080P display, I think WIFI will suffice.
So, port-wise, VW has done a great job, and they have left no stone unturned. Hence, 5/5 for port selection.

Built Quality TV (4/5) + Remote (3/5)

Since we did not opt for TV installation from Amazon, we called our guy for the work, and he really liked the wall frame and how strong it felt while he was setting it up.
He also mentioned that the TV stand is good quality, strong, and it’s a good value at this price. Because TVs over 8000 Rs more do not come with those.
The frame of the TV or even the back does not have any weak or flimsy panels. Which means good built quality has been taken care of.
All the cost-cutting is done on a very basic remote, and the build is also average. The good thing is that the range of the controller is good.
Unlike some TVs where you need to point towards the center or towards the TV, this one is much better than those.
But it’s very flimsy, and care is needed while in use. So for TV, we would give it 4 for built, and the remote gets 3/5.
VW 43inch Spectra TV Review – Display (4/5)

This is a very slim, almost bezel-less QLED TV with 1080p resolution on an HD panel. Only the bottom bar is thicker, which holds the VW logo.
The picture quality is good out of the box. The colors are vibrant, and watching movies and YouTube videos is a great experience.
The viewing angles are good. We have moved to the extreme left and right, and there’s hardly any color fading observed.
We did watch a few movies and podcasts together, from very bright to dark lighting and extreme left or right angles. So viewing angles are not an issue.
Do keep in mind, the panel used is not very premium as the likes of Samsung or Sony, it’s a very budget-centric range, hence keep your expectation as the price.
The brightness is claimed to be around 350 nits, which is quite bright. But if you are putting it next to a window, then it will not be as bright, as happens with many displays or monitors.
So, it will only be able to play up to 1080P on YouTube. However, with JioHotstar, it is locked at 720P for some reason, even though my pack is up to 1080P. [more about in the user experience below] Whereas Zee5 runs on 1080P.
The TV is also HDR10, which means it will help you have a better visual experience. So, to sum up the display, it’s fine for the price. We are quite satisfied with the output for the above-average 15,000 Rs 43-inch TV. Hence, 4/5.
User Experience (3.5/5)
So far so good. And it’s after 2 months of use. If you want to pair it with any gaming console or just browse YouTube or OTT platforms, it can handle that beautifully.
The apps supported are Netflix, Prime Video, ZEE5, Open Browser, JioHotstar, MovieArk, YouTube, BBC Sport, Ganna, VIKI, IVI, MangoTV, ESPN, Disney, and so much more.
Since it’s not a Google TV, you will not find the Google Play Store. But there are ways to get the Google Play Store on the TV (IYKYK).
So how’s the experience?

This is a QLED smart TV clocked at a 1080p 60Hz panel, which is good for the price, even under Rs. 20,000. YouTube can go up to 1080P. But is it the best? Not quite right to say that!
While apps like Netflix or JioHotstar crank up to 720P. Though the TV is capable of streaming at 1080P, the app’s security and lack of device DRM security limit 1080P streaming.
Second, it’s the storage. The default available is 4GB, out of which 500 MB is free. Hence, you would need to keep apps as you need them.
Third, it’s a smart TV, not a Google TV, and it brings a few differences between them, and let’s talk about some major ones in the next section.
Fourth, the remote lacks microphone commands, hence you would need to manually type the movie or show name.
And the 5th point, the TV misses on Bluetooth as a result you would not be able to enjoy big screen and personal audio experience.
Note: Adding an Aux to Bluetooth dongle can add convenience by just spending about 500 Rs.
Smart TV VS Google TV?
Smart TVs are tvs which run on Android but with a skin other than Google’s. This is done to keep the cost low. You can see a TV running Google OS, or Google TV is about 5 to 8K more expensive than the smart TV counterpart.
Another difference lies in terms of Google Apps. In Smart TVs, you will find popular apps like JioHotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and others, but the Google Play Store, or other services, will not natively work and will be missing.
Similarly, the VW Spectra is also a Smart TV that runs on a different Android skin called “GAIA OS”. Which looks decent and feels okayish.
So, for the budget price segment, we did not find the UI as lacking, slow, or non-responsive.
Hence, we do not have any complaints in this context. But I do have 1 major concern for the brand. Let’s talk about that in the verdict section.
But before that, do remember that a Google TV will get Android updates quite early as compared to the Smart TV, as a result, this TV is still running on Android 11.
Should You Buy VW 43inch Spectra TV?

The TV claims so many things like QLED display, HDR10, and so much more, and they are somewhat right to call it that way because the TV industry is a densely populated product, and brands need your attention.
The thing that goes in VW’s favour is the pricing and features on offer, which really make it truly value for money, and other brands feel almost 8 to 10k more expensive.
So the TV is not good? No! It’s good for the price. C’mon, getting a good Android phone at this price is a challenge, and here you are getting a 43-inch smart TV!
That’s also true; it is not the best TV ever made. There are flows, and let’s talk about those here.
The supplied remote control is very average and does not feel confident or inspiring. It has so much flex, and button feedback is also not that great.
As we said, the remote lacks a microphone, hence you would need to make the search manually.
Second, the TV is HDR10 ready, but streaming HD content on JioHotstar does not go beyond 720P (even though our pack is 1080p).
That’s because the TV uses a very old Android version (11), and JioHotstar has a very strong anti-piracy licensing procedure.
As I said before, it’s not a Google TV, hence no native support for the Google Play Store. Though it does have its own store, there are plenty of apps available to download and try.
But for the low price, VW is actually offering so much to impress budget buyers.
Coming to the main question, should you buy one? Well, if money is a concern and you want the best you can get for the price, then yes, go ahead and buy the TV.
Or, if you want to buy a big TV to pair with your camera surveillance, then you can confidently go with this!
Planning to pair with a PS5 or any other high-end gaming console? Then avoid this TV, as it is just 1080p, and the gameplay performance won’t feel good.
However, colors and display will not be an issue. For older consoles like PS2 or PS3, you can go with it!
If money is not a problem but you need trust or a product from a reputable brand, then Samsung or Sony really win here. I hope we were very clear about who this TV is for.
