Built Quality
One thing where BoAt has done a great job surely lies in the build quality. We have hardly found a BoAt Airdopes with bad build quality. Similarly, both 141 and 141 Gen 2 offer good built quality.
The cases on both are strong and confidence-inspiring without any sharp edges or panels. The hinges are quite good, too. If you are looking for a satisfying click noise, you will get that on both.
Also, the Magnetic pull is quite strong on both, and the buds do not fall off even if the case is upside down.
However, the buds are slightly different, and the BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 feel better. Both are soft with no sharp edges or uneven plastic, but the regular 141 feels flimsy.
Not a big thing, as we have been using it for over 2 years now and it has aged quite good.
So to sum up, built quality, both are good but BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 is better.
Looks
In terms of looks, both the Airdopes are very different. One is all matte while one is glossy with hints of matte.
The Airdopes 141 have an all-matte design on the case as well as the buds. Whereas the 141 Gen 2 has all glossy designs.
Glossy vs matte is also a debate choice as most people prefer matte over glossy. In the long run, Matte cases get less scratched and are less visible than glossy cases.
The buds on the 141 Gen 2 are different than the case. The bottom part holds some glossy elements and the rest is matte.
One thing to note is that on Airdopes 141, the BoAt case, logo is present, while the Gen 2 has BoAt branding.
Since looks are subjective, you can buy one as you like. For us, BoAt Airdopes 141 takes the cake!
Features
Back then, with Airdopes 141 or 148, BoAt really loaded it with features. Similarly, the Gen 2 takes the crown with refresh and new additions. But there’s a surprise and a shocking one! Will be back in a second.
In terms of features, both earbuds have all the basic amenities like IWP, which is instant wake and pair, which is BoAt’s fancy word for instant pairing, and it is very quick.
The buds get connected way before you will wear these. Making a seamless experience.
Both earbuds have IPX4 water resistance, hence sweat will not damage them. Similarly, additional ear tips are provided to find the most convenient spot!
Even if you buy any BoAt Airdopes from the 141 lineup, you will get support for the BoAt Hearables app, which adds value.
As per connectivity, BoAt has upgraded from Bluetooth 5.1 to 5.3, which is a nice thing to do. Though the earlier model hardly had any audio delay or audio breaking. This latest gen takes the lead further.
In terms of sound output, 2mm driver size increases is done. Which is also a nice thing. But the question is how well these sound? For that, here’s the audio section test!
So, to sum up the features, BoAt has added pretty much everything. However, the lack of dual BT connection and volume controls would have been better.
Comfort & Grip
In terms of comfort, both are very good and are ideal for medium to large ears. Also, in the box, additional earbuds are provided to find the comfortable spot.
The Airdopes 141 is taller, thicker and heavier than the 141 Gen 2. Since Gen 2 has more hardware power (except battery capacity), it really feels like an upgrade while being compact and more pocketable.
Similarly, the buds on 141 are slightly thinner and smaller hence makes these more comfortable for long hours of use.
And when it comes to grip, BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 is better. It offers a snug fit hence a strong passive noise cancellation and ambient noise is removed by more than 20-40%.
Additionally, Airdopes 141 Gen 2 work well during workouts. If you run, jog, weight lifting. The buds do not move an inch.
Hence for grip, BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 is better. And for pure comfort, both are good but Airdopes 141 is better.
BoAt Airdopes 141 vs 141 Gen 2 Sound Test
Boat Airdopes 141 offers 8mm drivers, while the latest Gen 2 has 10mm drivers. Does this 2mm make a difference? Yes, there are a few that you notice immediately.
But before that, you should also know that both sound great for the price. None has a muffled sound or makes you lower the volume.
The difference lies in everything. Let’s start with bass. Airdopes 141 have good bass. But some audio distortion was present only at max volume. The BoAt improved here with the Gen 2, which offers better quality bass. Also, the distortion-free music at max volume is a nice add-on!
In terms of vocals, both are good, but for some reason, we found 141 to be slightly crisper. Maybe due to the better treble balance on Airdopes 141?
So, for better bass and added depth in the sound, Airdopes 141 Gen 2 is better. Vocal and treble-wise, BoAt Airdopes 141 is still better.
BoAt Airdopes 141 vs 141 Gen 2 Mic test
This is the biggest difference between the two, and one is a sure-shot winner. BoAt Airdopes 141 offers a dual mic while the Gen 2 offers a quad mic setup. Which means the Gen 2 will pick a better voice and ENC?
Yes, that’s true. BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 does a great job of picking up the voice clearly, and then the ENx technology reduces about 30 to 50% of ambient noise. Here’s the detailed review where you can hear the mic sample.

Whereas, BoAt Airdopes 141 offers decent microphone performance. If you are a casual caller or take calls in a silent atmosphere, you can go ahead with Airdopes 141 as well.

Here BoAt Hearables App Support
Both Airdopes 141 and BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 support the BoAt hearables app, which is quite good for the price. Through the app, you can find your earbuds, play top songs on Jio Savan, or podcasts on KUKU FM.
The rest of the functionalities, like changing EQ, custom EQ, enabling game more, etc, are not available. Hence, the app support is present, but functionality is quite limited for these models. Maybe OTA updates can fix it?
Gaming Performance
BoAt Airdopes 141 and BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 come equipped with BEAST mode, which helps to reduce latency during gameplay as well as media consumption.
It’s just not a marketing strategy, but BEAST mode does make a difference. Play a game once without the BEAST mode, and in the next round, enable it, and you will notice the difference.
So, hows the gaming performance on both? Which is better?
BoAt Airdopes 141 has up to 80ms of latency, while the Airdopes 141 Gen 2 has 65ms. By the numbers, it clearly means Gen 2 is better. And yes, it’s actually better!
Another reason to enhance the experience is the latest Bluetooth 5.3 instead of 5.1. In realtime, both are good for gaming.
Since BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 has better bass output, the gameplay becomes immersive with boomy bass. Left and right separation is good on both, and similarly, the loudness is quite similar.
For a decent gaming experience, you can opt for Airdopes 141, while Airdopes 141 Gen 2 takes the cake for better gaming output.
Battery Backup & Charging
In terms of raw battery capacities BoAt Airdopes 141 has a 600 mAh case while the buds have 30 mAh each. While the Airdopes 141 Gen 2 has a 450 mAh case with 40mm each for earbuds.
BoAt claims about 42 hours of battery backup with Airdopes 141, while the Gen 2 claims 48 hours of playback.
So, going by the numbers, BoAt Airdopes 141 with 600 mAh does make it look strong contender in terms of battery backup.
This is somewhat true, and you would stay away from the charger for longer. While the 450 mAh of Gen 2 feels low. This is also true! But there’s a catch.
Since the carry case has more battery capacity, BoAt Airdopes 141 charges the buds more times than the Gen 2. However, the battery backup of the buds is longer on Gen 2, thanks to a bigger capacity of the earbuds.
BoAt did this to make the case smaller and lighter, as many reviewers, including us, said the 141 was big and bulky.
So, if you aim for a larger number of charges of the buds or longer peace of mind away from the charger, then BoAt Airdopes 141 is better. Whereas, 141 Gen 2 is perfect for long hours of continuous use or longer battery backup in general.
If you ask us, we would pick the BoAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2, as its battery backup during intense use lasts for more than 15 days! That you can stratch to 20 days by staug around 80% volume.

In my opinion, if you are confused between the BoAt Airdopes 141 VS 141 Gen 2, then opting for Airdopes 141 Gen 2 will be a better decision. First, it improves the build of the earbuds. Second, bigger audio drivers with better bass and a distortion-free audio experience.
