Built Quality
Over the last 4 years, BoAt has improved and OnePlus being a premium brand they have lived up to its name.
But what about these two? Well, they are great!
TWS from other brands are flimsy and overall built is average (not every product falls into this).
The overall fit and finish is great. There’s no flimsy stuff and the lip closes with a satisfying click sound.
The same can be said for the earbuds. Very soft with no hard edges or panel pressing.
In terms of build, both are great and you will have no issues with any, honestly.
So for built BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC and OnePlus Nord Buds 2R get 9.5/10.
Looks
in terms of looks, things are very different. OnePlus Nord Buds 2R has a wider and taller box with tiny earbuds. Whereas, the Airdopes 141 ANC is the complete opposite!
It’s to be noted that both OnePlus and BoAt Airdopes are designed for people with medium to large ears.
There are additional ear tips that you can use and find your perfect spot.
In my case, BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC looks more beautiful and premium over the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R.
Hence for looks, BoAt Airdopes 141ANC gets 9/10 and OnePlus Nord Buds 2R an 8/10.
Comfort
if you are looking for wireless earbuds that you can wear for 4+ hours straight, these are the ones to look at.
They are very comfortable and do not harm the ears by pain or discomfort.
The silicone ear tips are soft and flexible and you can find your sweet spot by changing the given options.
So which one is better between OnePlus Nord Buds 2R and BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC in terms of comfort?
I would go with OnePlus because of two reasons. The earbuds are lighter and thinner next to 141ANC as a result, I use them more.
So for comfort, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R gets 9.5/10. While BoAt Airdopes 141ANC a 9/10.
Grip
This can be subjective since not everyone has the same ear size. In my case, large ears! Thanks to earbuds with silicone tips you can find your best spot.
I found the grip of BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC better.
It can also be due to the larger size. So if you plan to work out wearing any of these then BoAt Airdopes 141ANC takes the charge.
With OnePlus, you will need to play around the ear tips to get a snug feel.
Hence for Grip, BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC gets 9/10. While, OnePlus Nord Buds 2R 8/10.
Features
In terms of features, one offers App support while the other has ANC. So let’s talk about that in detail.
BoAt’s USP is Active Noise Cancellation and it’s a big one for many people. If you are one of those, 141ANC is the choice!
On top of it, You also get 2 predefined EQs to choose from via the earbuds by pressing the left earbud to switch between the two.
BoAt even claims up to 42 hours of battery backup and up to 6 hours of continuous use.
You also get IPX5 water resistance which will make sure these don’t get spilled in sweat. There’s also Beast mode for gaming and it works!
This pretty much sums up the essentials. Let’s now look at the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R.
The biggest attraction of Nord Buds 2R is the 12.4 mm audio drivers which are quite similar to OnePlus Nord Buds 2.
Which means it’s going to do wonders in the audio department (more about it below).
Then there’s support for the Hey Melody app on Android that allows you to change between 3 predefined EQs or create a custom one. You can also make changes to the earbud’s touch controls. Moreover, there’s a dedicated gaming mode that can be toggled on.
So for features, both offer different sets of features for different users in mind. For my daily use, OnePlus is more appropriate and convenient. You can go with any of these.
Audio Quality
Let me save you time here! It’s the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R that’s better by miles! Overall, it has better audio reproduction without distorting any audio at any volume.
Both OnePlus and BoAt get quite loud at the top end, but OnePlus handles it better.
As far as customization goes, BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC comes with predefined dual equalizers that you can change via the earbuds.
With the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R, you can select any of the 3 predefined EQs or make your own via the Hey Melody app or if you own the latest OnePlus phone, you can make the EQ changes from the phone’s Settings.
For iPhone users, we get none; neither app support nor the changes via the Settings panel.
Does the EQ make a difference? Yes, it does especially on BoAt 141ANC. The Normal mode is good for watching movies and listening to podcasts. The detail is quite good.
The BoAt Signature Sound EQ adds more bass which stays good till 80% volume afterwards it starts to distort. Whereas OnePlus is great out of the box. Even if you feel like trying new things you will enjoy it even better.
So to sum up audio quality, BoAt 141ANC gets 8/10 while the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R is at 9.5/10.
Mic Test
Both OnePlus and BoAt have their versions of ENC OnePlus calls it AI and BoAt calls it ENx technology. If you don’t know ENC it is known as environmental noise cancellation which helps to cut noise during calls or mic use.
Now, the question is which one is better for calling?
The better option is BoAt in this comparison. Why? Let me explain.
The final output of BoAt microphones will capture more of your voice and less of ambient noise. ANC also works to cut even more noise.
Whereas, OnePlus filters some of the ambient noise but overly optimises your vocals as a result the final output is mushy and lacks treble instead has more bass.
This holds for any atmospheric conditions like indoors, outdoors, or while traveling.
So for call quality, BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC is better. If you are in for OnePlus for calling then you can put a few hundred more and grab the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 (review soon).
Battery Backup & Charging
We are quite impressed with the battery backup of these earbuds, you will love these two!
As per their claim battery backups, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R can be used for 38 hours and BoAt’s 42 hours figure seems a lot, on paper! But in reality, both are quite similar! The reason is the ANC of BoAt Airdopes 141ANC. It drops the battery backup.
So how much juice you can expect from these? Let’s talk about OnePlus first. if you like to enjoy music or other media at full volume then these buds can be used between 5 to 7 hours. The backup will go more if you lower the volume down.
You will get similar results with BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC but without the ANC! Turning on the ANC drops the battery range from 4 to 5 hours depending upon the volume.
Which is not bad either. ANC earbuds are more or less a similar backup.
As far as charging goes, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R takes a little more than 1 hour and 30 mins. While, BoAt gets fully charged in under an hour, using the same 20-watt charger.
So for battery backup and charging, OnePlus Nord Buds 2R and BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC are great options for media consumption.
Gaming
If you have a routine of playing games via tws earbuds then both are good and almost lag-free experiences. But one is better for Android, iOS, Windows, and even Mac. Let’s talk more.
BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC offers a better gaming experience. The latency is quite low, the left and right balance is perfect and you get to know the enemy’s footsteps and other things in better detail.
Whereas, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R, on Android, is good but on iOS it’s not. The reason is Gaming mode activation via the Hey Melody which is not available on iOS.
So, if you have an Android phone you can buy BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC is great, The OnePlus Nord Buds 2R is good for Android and average for iOS.
OnePlus Nord Buds 2R VS BoAt Airdopes 141 ANC Which is Better?
Let’s talk about the verdict. If you are a hardcore music lover and need all the quality and media experience under 2000 Rs then the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R is the way to go! We have never been this much confident recommending an audio product.
The second reason to pick the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R is the Hey Melody app support for Android. It packs great features and customizations.
Other than that, it’s a great overall device and one should not hesitate to pick one. Be it gaming or overall comfort on offer.
